Klimabonus — up to €10,000
The main state grant for photovoltaics in self-consumption mode. Maximum amount reached at 15 kWp. The amount is calculated using a degressive formula based on installed capacity. Reserved for resident homeowners in Luxembourg.
Home battery — up to €2,250
Additional grant for installing a storage battery (minimum capacity: 2 kWh). Maximum amount reached at 9 kWh. Must be connected to a self-consumption PV installation.
Reduced VAT at 3%
On the supply and installation of photovoltaic panels (excluding storage batteries). Applied directly on the installer’s invoice. On a €11,000 installation, this represents savings of approximately €1,540.
Municipal grants — variable
Some municipalities offer additional grants (Steinfort, Niederanven, Mamer, Bech, Mertzig…). Amounts range between 20% and 50% of the state grant. Check with your local authority.
New: Klimabonus pre-financing 2026
Since 4 January 2026, a new pre-financing (third-party payment) system changes the game for photovoltaic installations in Luxembourg. You only pay the net balance of your installation — the Klimabonus grant is deducted directly from your invoice by the installer.

The installer deducts the grant directly from your invoice. You only pay the difference. The state then reimburses the installer within 30 days.

To benefit from pre-financing, your installer must be registered in the register of approved installers published by the Ministry of Economy on Guichet.lu.
Self-consumption mode required
Pre-financing is reserved for self-consumption installations (waiving the guaranteed feed-in tariff). Minimum capacity: 2 kWp.
If you ordered between 1 October 2024 and 4 March 2026, you can choose between the old scheme (50% capped at €1,250/kWp) and the new scheme (degressive formula, €10,000 cap). Your installer will advise you on the most advantageous option.
