Energy advisor or company: who to start with
If your project covers more than one element or includes ventilation, start with the energy advisor: the advice is mandatory for the Klimabonus, it sets the thicknesses and standards the quotes must meet, and the advisor then checks the offers (a €100 grant per measure).

How to compare your energy renovation quotes
Compare quotes on their net cost and on compliance with the Klimabonus requirements, not on the headline price: a dearer but better-subsidised quote can end up costing the same.

When to sign: the order that protects your grants
For insulation, windows and ventilation, file the approval-in-principle request before the works start and have the quote state that the works only begin afterwards; for a heat pump, the order date counts: ordered by 30 June 2027, it receives €2,000 more.
- External wall insulation: check with the municipality whether a declaration or permit is required; with no answer within 3 months, the request is deemed refused.
- Pre-financing: for heat pumps and insulation, the company can only deduct the grant from invoices issued from 2027; for photovoltaics it is already possible.

It is free and without obligation. Your request goes to three companies established in Luxembourg, which contact you for a site visit and then send a quote; you remain free to accept none of them.
How many quotes should you compare for an energy renovation?
Three quotes per item let you spot an abnormal price and compare technical solutions. For a whole-house renovation, request them on the same scope of works, ideally the concept drawn up by the energy advisor, who then checks the offers comply. On renov.lu, your request goes to 3 companies: professionals established in Luxembourg whose business permit has been checked. You compare without being swamped with calls, free and without obligation, usually with a reply within 48 working hours.
Can you sign a quote before the Klimabonus approval in principle?
The rule concerns the start of the works: for insulation, windows and ventilation, the approval-in-principle request must precede the start on site. To be safe, have the quote state that works only begin once it has been filed. A heat pump or solar panels need no approval in principle.
Should a quote state the Klimabonus amount?
It is not compulsory, but a good quote estimates it. For insulation, the grant is the lower of two figures: the flat rate per m² according to material and standard, or 60% of the cost excluding VAT. Only the Environment Administration’s decision sets the final amount.
Who files the Klimabonus application, me or the company?
In the standard procedure, the owner does, on MyGuichet.lu or at the Guichet unique des aides au logement, often with help from the energy advisor. With pre-financing, the registered company files the request and deducts the grant from its invoice: already possible for photovoltaics, and for invoices issued from 2027 for heat pumps and insulation.
