How ordering works
Your request follows four steps, from form to certificate; renov.lu forwards it to a partner expert, who issues and invoices the certificate.

They confirm the price, check whether a valid certificate already exists (common in co-owned buildings) and book the visit.
They visit the property
They survey the envelope (walls, roof, windows, floors) and the systems (heating, hot water, ventilation, solar).
You receive the certificate
Usually within 72 hours of the visit: three classes from A+ to I, valid for 10 years. On a sale, the original will go to the buyer.
What the rate includes
The negotiated rate of €475 for a house covers the expert’s visit, the calculation and the official certificate with its recommendations. It compares with a market of about €500 to €600 including VAT for a house (energy certificate cost in Luxembourg).

The certificate is not subsidised. It is mandatory to sell or let (obligations when selling or letting) and, before and after works, for a Klimabonus application on insulation, windows or ventilation (all about the energy performance certificate).
What to prepare for the visit
Gather what you have: plans, year of construction, invoices for insulation and window works, heating details (type, year). Without them, the expert surveys everything on site, but unproven hidden insulation can cost you a class. Make sure the cellar, boiler room and attic are accessible. What happens after I send the form?
Your request is forwarded the same day to renov.lu’s approved partner expert. They contact you within 24 hours by email and phone to confirm the price and book the visit, then usually deliver the certificate within 72 hours of it.
Does the request commit me to ordering the certificate?
No. The request is free and without obligation: you only commit by accepting the appointment and price the expert offers when calling. For a house, the negotiated rate is €475; for a flat or building, the expert provides a quotation.
Who receives my contact details?
Only the partner expert in charge of issuing your energy certificate, with the consent you give in the form. Signing up for renov.lu’s advice is optional and ticked separately. The terms are set out in the site’s legal notice.
How do I request a certificate for a flat in a co-owned building?
Choose « Apartment » or « Building » and state in the details the number of units and whether the building already has a certificate. In Luxembourg, a flat’s certificate is the whole building’s: the expert first checks whether one under 10 years old exists, then quotes for the whole building if needed. For subsidised works, the building’s EPC is required before and after the works; our co-ownership renovation page explains the collective file.
Does a certificate obtained through renov.lu have the same value as any other?
Yes. It is issued by an authorised expert, an OAI member or approved by the Minister of the Economy, using the method of the Grand-Ducal Regulation of 9 June 2021. It has the same legal value as any other certificate: it can be used to sell, let or file a Klimabonus application for 10 years.
Does the expert travel anywhere in Luxembourg?
